Quick Shout Out and Update

Quick shout out to the guys over at Eeeper’s Choice podcast. It’s good to know I apparently have international listeners. It further belabors my concern that perhaps I should drop the “Northern Virginia” from the podcast name as I’m so much bigger than that. Right?

I have quickie podcast in the pipes that should be out soon (next week?) and then I still have all the loveliness from the Sakura Matsuri to edit. Stay tuned.

THIS POST APPEARS ON HTTP://WWW.ATARUMOROBOSHI.COM - IF IT IS SHOWING UP ON ANOTHER DUBIOUS ANIME WEBSITE, PERHAPS POSTED UNDER THE HANDLE “ANIME EPISODES”, IT IS NOT AUTHORIZED. INFACT IF YOU SEE THIS POST ON THAT OTHER DUBIOUS WEBSITE, THAT MEAN SAID WEBSITE OWNER HAS IGNORED REPEATED TAKE DOWN REQUESTS AND THEIR HOSTING PROVIDER HAS BEEN CONTACTED BY MULTIPLE BLOGGERS NOTIFYING THEM OF A CUSTOMER WHO IS VIOLATING THEIR TERMS OF SERVICES BY HOSTING A LINK FARM, AND STEALING CONTENT, IN ORDER TO DRIVE SEARCH ENGINE TRAFFIC.

But, I don’t think that’s a problem. So onto the real post.

Hi guys! A new podcast from Northern Virginia Anime With Ataru should be coming soon. I also have a guest podcast coming down the pipe, so sit tight I know you guys are itching for new content.

SPLOGS! Spam Blogs That Steal Content

This post is from www.atarumoroboshi.com

Since all my content is still actively being aggregated and stolen without attribution, I thought I would share a little big more about what’s happening here.

Splogs are essentially content and link farms which exist to drive search engine traffic and well steal your content to make money.

I’ve already gotten the attention my current “Splogger” and I’m awaiting him/her to stop aggregating my posts without my permission or attribution. Interestingly my posts dealing with the theft of my content have been removed, but older ones have not.

A more in depth read can be found over at Devtopics.com - Spam Blogs and Stolen Content.
There is a lot you can do to prevent other people from stealing your content and profiting off of your hard work. You can even contribute to a database of splogs at splogspot.com which is ever growing at a staggering rate. (Though at time of this post, I was unable to successfully add a splog due to a captcha issue)

Anyway, despite the fact this post will likely be shamefully ripped off as well, I figured I’d share this information for those who may end-up in the same boat.

…is here.

Happy April.

Some upcoming updates from ATARUMOROBOSHI.COM coming soon.

That is, the only website that publishes this blog ;-)

There is smart and then there is utter stupidity, sadly this is a story of the latter.

NOTE: IF YOU ARE READING THIS POST ON ANY OTHER BLOG OTHER THEN WWW.ATARUMOROBOSHI.COM IT IS NOT AUTHORIZED BY ME (ATARU) THE CONTENT CREATOR.

The other day I was looking at my site stats and I noticed a ridiculous amount of traffic coming from one domain. At first, I thought “great, someone must be really promoting the podcast.”How naive of me.

When I went to the site, what I found was a bit of a surprise - someone had posted all my blog content as their own! Copy and pasted every-single-mutha-fucking-post from atarumoroboshi.com and posted it. And leeching all my images to boot! What nerve, and talk about lazy, they kept my in line signature on all my posts.

WTF asshole?

Being the savvy individual I am, I gave this guy the benefit of the doubt. A quick whois turns up a newly registered domain this month to with the not-so-awesome GoDaddy and with hosting from a company called asmallorange (yeah, I haven’t heard of them either).

I sent him a nice email, asking him to remove the posts, and kindly asked him to not leech my images. I even politely suggested that maybe he was testing out his new blog and somehow “mistakenly” stole my posts and images. A week passed, and with no response, my patience wore thin.

Sadly, I had to modify my .htaccess file to prevent image leeching. (Sorry guys! I didn’t really want to.) Many thanks to Attack of the Gamer who had a quick and concise write up on how to modify the .htaccess file. I tried to re-direct the leechers to an image, but it seems I’m doing something wrong. Here it for giggles, maybe I’ll get it working later.

Anyway, while I can prevent him from stealing my bandwidth, this guy has also ripped of posts from Ani-One.com and the Hardcore Anime Podcast, and to date my content disingenuously sits on his site, sans my images.

UPDATE: THIS POST HAS NOW BEEN SHAMELESSLY STOLEN AND POSTED.

UPDATE 2: AFTER THIS POST WAS SHAMELESSLY STOLEN AND POSTED, IT WAS THEN REMOVED - MY OTHER POSTS STILL REMAIN.

Hello fabulous podcast listeners.

I’ve had a couple people ask me about the status of the podcast, so I figured I’d update, and answer some questions.

  • No, I wasn’t at Katsucon. Though, I’m glad to hear that you got drunk and played the Japanese version of Super Smash Brothers Brawl. Now, stop emailing me about it.
  • Yes, I know the second season of Gunslinger Girl stinks. It’s a different animation studio, these things happen.
  • Learning Japanese is fucking hard, but at this point, I can read and write hiragana and katakana.
  • At this rate it doesn’t look like I’ll be regularly podcasting until the summer, this damn thing called life, seems to think it can get the better of me.

Keep the comments coming, I’ll try to keep the posts coming.

  • Comments: Currently all comments posted to the site must be approved. Don’t panic if you post a comment and don’t see it right away. If you have previously approved comments you can post without my approval. I’m doing this because I’m getting hit with spam comments. I’m looking into some more full featured word press plugins to adress this.
