SPLOGS! Spam Blogs That Steal Content
This post is from www.atarumoroboshi.com
Since all my content is still actively being aggregated and stolen without attribution, I thought I would share a little big more about what’s happening here.
Splogs are essentially content and link farms which exist to drive search engine traffic and well steal your content to make money.
I’ve already gotten the attention my current “Splogger” and I’m awaiting him/her to stop aggregating my posts without my permission or attribution. Interestingly my posts dealing with the theft of my content have been removed, but older ones have not.
A more in depth read can be found over at Devtopics.com - Spam Blogs and Stolen Content.
There is a lot you can do to prevent other people from stealing your content and profiting off of your hard work. You can even contribute to a database of splogs at splogspot.com which is ever growing at a staggering rate. (Though at time of this post, I was unable to successfully add a splog due to a captcha issue)
Anyway, despite the fact this post will likely be shamefully ripped off as well, I figured I’d share this information for those who may end-up in the same boat.

I’m glad you are helping to educate your readers on the threats that splogs and scrapers pose. They are a blight on the web. It happens to all of us, though many think it only happens to the “famous” bloggers. If it does, then consider yourself famous.
It’s no fun, but there are many ways to stop it, and you’ve mentioned a few. I also highly recommend Jonathan Bailey’s Plagiarism Today as a tremendous source of help dealing with content theft. He’s helped hundreds of bloggers deal with copyright infringement issues for free and offers some great resources to help.
Again, thank you for educating not linking to the spammer in a blame game (they like that) as a way to teach the world and change the world. I really appreciate that!

Hey, thanks! I appreciate your post, It was helpful, and hopefully people will see my posts and be helped too.
I also was looking into this
http://blog.taragana.com/index.php/archive/wordpress-plugin-to-automatically-add-copyright-message-to-your-rss-atom-feeds/2/
It a word press plugin which inserts copyright information into the RSS feed. Have any experience with it?

There are a variety of Plugins that will inject copyright and digital finger prints into your feeds. There is no “best” one, just the one that works for your needs.
However, this doesn’t stop anything. It only puts the original source information into the scraped post. Digital Fingerprint WordPress Plugin includes the ability to track those digital finger prints and copyright statements through search engines, and AntiLeech adds the ability to block consistent scrapers.
